After an "avalanche" of calls and emails from advocates, the Ways and Means Committee vote is too close to call at 11 to 9, with 2 absentees outstanding. It all comes down to Senators Brian Hatfield (D) and Rodney Tom (D), one of whom must sign the bill before the end of the day to keep 4Culture alive. Just got an email from Tina Bodine, Legislative Assistant to Senator Joseph Zarelli (18th Legislative District) regarding SHB 1997, known to some as The 4Culture bill.
ReplyDelete“The bill did not get the sufficient number of signatures to move out of committee today. The bill is likely dead – today was the cut-off date for the bill to move out of committee.”
I just can't believe they would let that happen!
